Client Story: Commodities London / Sao Paulo

MapleRisk have been successfully helping our global markets clients deliver complex change programmes through an Agile DevOps approach. Our domain experts are embedded within your team. They collaboratively work within our Agile DevOps framework that draws from multiple disciplines including solution architecture, engineering, and data scientists backed by a deep understanding of front-to-back trading and risk management fundamentals.

In this post we discuss how we provided solution design and architectural expertise to integrate multiple systems alongside designing a front-to-back workflow for physical operations.

This Physical Commodities Supply Chain & Trading house was established by a major Latin American bank with an asset light strategy to make profits from quickly responding to changing market conditions across energy, freight and logistics, agriculture, metals and minerals. They were heavily involved in the physical markets to obtain market intelligence and exploit physical optionalities.

The client took a best of breed approach and selected a portfolio of systems with challenging integration requirements between different systems for finance, back-office, physical contract workflows, Credit, VaR, and Risk.

MapleRisk Approach

MapleRisk worked with business and operations stakeholders to define their processes, designed and developed a front-to-back workflow for physical trading operations.

MapleRisk worked with the client and produced a to-be architectural road-map for the portfolio of systems that can take advantage of digital technologies and promotes automation.

MapleRisk provided commodities domain expertise and architectural oversight between various integration requirements between different systems such as SAP, Calypso, ITAS, and Brady.

  • Agile methodology aligned with DevOps best practice ensured continuous delivery and maintained alignment with business objectives and IT plans.
  • MapleRisk promoted an architecture that is scalable and takes advantage of innovations in cloud computing, business intelligence, data visualisation, and digital transformation.
  • The client realised significant savings in project costs by utilising MapleRisk’s expert consultants on a flexible basis rather than deploying individual contractors full-time.
